When you decide to purchase your first (or second, or fifth) vaporizer, you’ll quickly realize that there are now a variety of brands and models on the market. But which device is the right one for you? We would like to give you a guide in this article that explains what to look for when buying.
Vaporizers, also called vapes or (herbal) vaporizers, differ not only in design, price and quality, but also in their functionality. That is why it is important to learn about the main features before buying.
What does a vaporizer do?
Vapes all work the same way in principle: a constant supply of heat activates and dissolves the various organic ingredients of herbs (or waxes / oils) from the plant material without burning it. This is very low in pollutants and odors and discreet.
Convection or conduction – what is the difference and which heating method is better?
An evaporator can be distinguished by two heating methods: Conduction and convection. Conduction vaporizers heat the heating chamber, which is in direct contact with your herbal material. In convection heating technology, an element under the heating chamber heats the attracted air and extracts active ingredients of the plant material as it passes through the chamber. The two methods differ in terms of vapor density, intensity and aroma. Which heating method is more suitable for an evaporator? It depends on your preferences. In our article.

Our checklist for buying a vaporizer
What should you look for when buying a vaporizer?
In the first place: qualitative materials, as they give more security
Since the market for vaporizers has grown rapidly in recent years, there are unfortunately also many counterfeit and inferior products available. With incredibly cheap products, the worst case scenario is that the battery bursts into flames. That’s why it’s important to pay close attention to which vendor is selling the vaporizer and how much information they disclose about their device (counterfeiters tend not to disclose product information or they don’t have their own website with contact).
Warranty and support by the manufacturer
Good vapes, from trusted brands, usually have a warranty period of 1 to 2 years. Within that time, you should be able to return your broken vaporizer to the company without much trouble and receive either a free repair or a new unit. Each brand has its own terms and conditions for this. In addition, if questions arise about the product or use, it is beneficial if the manufacturer offers a support service. This can be done either through a hotline, website chat, or email.
Wear parts can be reordered individually
Like any commodity, a vape has its wear parts. Therefore, you should purchase a product for which parts are also available separately. Among them, for example, battery, mouthpiece and sieves.
Replaceable and powerful battery
As already mentioned, the battery is also one of the wear parts. You should definitely choose a device that has a replaceable and powerful (ca.3200 mAh) battery. If the battery is installed in the vape and it suddenly stops working, you can dispose of the whole vaporizer or you will have to send it to the manufacturer for replacement and go without it for a few days. Probably the biggest advantage of a replaceable battery is the flexible use even on the go. If you forget to fully charge your device again, just grab your spare battery and your day is saved.
Individually expandable accessories
It is always an advantage if your vaporizer is individually expandable. These can be accessories like charging adapters, different mouthpieces, oil & wax chambers, herb dosing chambers or bong adapters.
Removable mouthpiece
No matter which herbs or waxes you vaporize, after some time unsightly deposits will settle on the mouthpiece. Therefore, make sure that the mouthpiece is removable. You can either soak it in cleaning solution or simply clean it with a brush or cotton swab. Should the mouthpiece ever break or if you simply want to replace it, it is important to be able to reorder this individually.
Simple operation or display with understandable information
It doesn’t necessarily have to be a fancy LED display, as long as the operation is intuitive and uncomplicated. If you are keen on having full control over your device, you should get one with a display, as it allows you to see the exact charge level, temperature, operating mode, heating process, duration of your session, etc. The last thing you want when you’re vaping is to guess what you’ve set or when the next time the battery will go flat out of the blue.
Flexible charging options
Make sure you can load your vape quickly and untethered. At least one built-in micro USB port should be available for this. The newer devices on the market can also already be charged via USB-C. This way you can charge your vaporizer on the go anywhere there is a USB port. We hope that we could give you a little help for your vape purchase and wish you a lot of fun with your new vaporizer already now!
